Egyptian Theatre

Location: 135 North Second Street, DeKalb
Erected: 1929
Architect: Elmer F. Behrens

Built in the Art Deco style popular at the time, this is one of only six Egyptian Theatres in the United States and the only one in the Midwest. The theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Egyptian Theatre is fully restored and run locally by volunteers. Local and national musical and theatrical performances, as well as art-house films are shown regularly.
