Established: 1912
The Nehring plant, which produced copper and aluminum wire and aluminum cable was established in Sycamore in 1912 but moved to DeKalb in 1916. The company was "the oldest independent company of its kind in the world".
The original plant was located on East Lincoln Highway but the company later expanded and moved to a new location on the corner of Locust and Ninth Streets.
