William Ellwood House

William Ellwood, son of Isaac L. Ellwood was a livestock breeder and trader born and college-educated in DeKalb; he was in charge of his father's 3,400 acres of stock farms in the area. In 1882 at the age of 16 he began importing horses from France England and elsewhere. By 1898 he owned 700-900 head of horses 300-500 head of cattle and other livestock.

Ellwood lived in this residence from its construction until 1910. It is the current site of Ellwood View Apartments.
